Rules of Climbing in the Adrspach Rocks

On the first of May, some climbing sectors in Adrspach and Teplice open after their "winter sleep," within the territory of the Adrspach-Teplice Rocks National Nature Reserve. Let's remind ourselves of the basic rules.

Rules

  • The rocks are accessible to all climbers, not just members of the Czech Mountaineering Association (ČHS), provided that the conditions and rules of climbing are followed.
  • ČHS members with a valid card have free access to the rocks. Climbers who are not members of ČHS are required to pay an entrance fee.
  • Climbing is permitted in some sectors from May 1st, but in others only from July 1st (see map).
  • The usual principles of sandstone climbing apply here - climbing on wet rocks is prohibited, the use of rock-damaging safety measures is prohibited, climbing is only allowed during daylight hours, etc.
  • The use of magnesium and other chemical or mineral substances for drying hands is strictly prohibited.
  • Vegetation is also protected - damaging vegetation on the rocks, removing soil from terraces and rocks, etc., is prohibited.
  • First ascents are only possible with prior consent from the Administration of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area.

Sectors

  • From May 1st to December 31st, mountaineering activities in the NPR ATS area are permitted in Vstupní obvod, Město, Království (part), Ostrov, Milenecká hora.
  • From July 1st to December 31st, mountaineering activities in the NPR ATS area are permitted in Podhradí, Himaláj, Království, Panoptikum, Jezerka, Za pískovnou, Rokle nad Spáleným Mlýnem.
