The cloister in Broumov charmed us with its wonderful interiors and noteworthy history. The history of this Benedictine cloister reaches as far back as the beginning of the 13th century. Its imposing construction, however, wasn’t completed until the 17th century, when the Italian master builder Martin Allio of Löwenthal implemented the Baroque style.

Today, the cloister’s appearance is the work of architect K. I. Dientzenhofer.

What you’ll see when visiting the Broumov Cloister

  • A rare and enormous library with 17,000 volumes • A wonderful and vast cloister garden
  • The wonderful Church of St. Adalbert
  • A refectory with a unique copy of the Shroud of Turin from 1651. Only around another 40 copies of this piece can be found around the world. The one in Broumov is the only copy in Central Europe (north of the Alps) and is considered one of the most well done
